The Park
Now known as:
THE BRAMPTON SUMMER FESTIVAL OF MUSIC
Dedicated to the Vision of Donald M. Gordon
Annual Summer Concert Series
D.M. Gordon Chinguacousy Park
Sunday Evenings – 6:30pm
In 1974, Donald M. Gordon, Director of Parks and Recreation for the newly amalgamated City of Brampton, met with the local civic bands at the time to discuss and implement his vision of the Summer Festival of Music. Centred around the new Band Shell built in the middle of Chinguacousy Park, the Festival featured the Chinguacousy Concert Band and Dance Band, Senators Drum and Bugle Corps, Brampton Citizen’s Band, and many other local groups. The season was a resounding success and officially opened the Band Shell on Sunday, June 23rd, 1974.
The Chinguacousy Concert Band is proud to continue this tradition and amazing vision from one of our City’s great leaders. While the bandshell you will see is different from that of yesterday, the unmistakable music of our fun-loving, dedicated and devoted Brampton musicians survives through the ages.
The CCB and CSO are proud to present another summer season of wonderful music in one of Brampton’s best known destination parks. Donald M. Gordon Chinguacousy Park is conveniently located at Queen Street and Bramalea Road, right across from the Bramalea City Centre, and features many fun events for the whole family including the petting zoo & pony rides, splash pad, mini golf, paddle boats and much much more!
Bring your family out to the park every Sunday evening this year to the Chinguacousy Park Bandshell. Bring your lawn chairs or even just blankets to sit on in the natural ampitheatre area and enjoy some great music presented by fabulous community performers.
